Silco Sleeve® Firesleeve

Superior Thermal Resistance

Our Silco Sleeve® Firesleeve is engineered of high-quality knitted or braided E-glass fiberglass yarns in a flexible substrate, that are then coated with a high-grade, fully cured silicone elastomer. These industrial and aerospace-grade fire sleeves protect pipes, hoses, and cables from temperatures continuously up to 500°F (260°C) along with resistance to direct flame and molten splashes up to 2,200°F (1,200°C).

Unmatched Cable & Hose Protection

Resistant to hydraulic fluids, lubricating oils, and fuels, our fire sleeve insulates against energy loss in piping and housing, protects employees from burns and allows “bundling” of wires, hoses, and cables. The braided version of our fire sleeve meets the performance requirements of various industry standards. What is hose size?

The hydraulic power industry uses a system of measurement called Dash Numbers or Dash Sizes to identify hose and fitting size. The Dash Number is the measure of a hose’s Inner Diameter (I.D.) in sixteenths of an inch. The inside diameter of the hose must be sufficient to minimize pressure loss and prevent hose damage from friction or turbulence. The hose I.D. must be sized accurately to obtain the proper flow velocity for the system. Slow fluid flow results in sluggish system performance and high fluid flow causes pressure drops, system deterioration, and leaks. Davlyn aerospace and industrial firesleeves for hose protection are available in sizes from ¼” (6.4mm) through 5” (127mm). Davlyn firesleeve with hook & loop closure is available in standard sizes 1″ (25.4mm) through 12″ (304.8mm) and can also be cut to size and formed into a custom sleeve of almost any diameter. Hose Outside Diameter (O.D.) must be measured accurately to determine the correct inside diameter of the firesleeve to use.

More Information

Braided Silco Sleeve® Firesleeve

Braided aerospace grade firesleeves utilize a braided interior fiberglass sleeve to provide the highest level of protection in critical areas that may potentially be exposed to intense fire conditions. A common application includes oil lines inside engine compartments. In addition to serving aerospace applications that require the SAE AS1072D standard, braided firesleeves are also MSHA accepted (MSHA IC-358/01) for use in underground mines. Braided firesleeves are commonly used in a variety of other heavy industries, including automotive, maritime, locomotive, OEM, and oil and gas.

Knitted Silco Sleeve® Firesleeve

Knitted industrial grade firesleeves are commonly used in industrial applications for hose and cable protection where radiant heat and the potential for molten splashes are primary concerns. A knitted firesleeve is the most common choice for heavy industries like OEM and iron and steel. Industrial firesleeves are coated with a proprietary silicone rubber compound for increased durability and enhanced heat and flame protection.
